BMW to Introduce Electric BMW 5-Series and 7-Series Models

BMW is now expanding its electric model lineup by introducing EV models in the BMW 5-Series and the BMW 7-Series. This move is intended to give Tesla a run for its money. By expanding its eclectic lineup, BMW is looking to leap ahead of the exploding EV trend, which is sure to please drivers around Saint Augustine and Jacksonville Beach.

Currently, BMW offers two EV models - the i3 and the i8. Each of these current electric models offers its own unique style. By adding electric models to the BMW 5-Series and the BMW 7-Series, drivers will be able to enjoy the advantages of EV driving in the familiar body shape of a 5-Series and a 7-Series.

There are many advantages that electric cars offer. First electric vehicles do not require regular trips to the gas station. This means that the vehicle can be charged at home or a compatible charging station. Also, all-electric vehicles have incredible torque and acceleration power. This will come as a pleasant surprise for performance-focused BMW drivers. Finally, electric cars do not have the same time of maintenance issues as a gas-powered vehicle.

BMW's current electric vehicle lineup includes the urban-focused BMW i3. This small sedan is a standout when it comes to design and fuel efficiency. Also available from BMW is the i8 electric supercar. The i8 is known as one of the most stunning looking and highest performing electric cars in the world.

BMW's move to electric vehicles is expected to give Tesla a run for its money. Currently, Tesla is the leader when it comes to electric vehicles. However, BMW is known as a performance leader. That means that Tesla could soon see their sales get poached by the German automaker.

The 5-Series and 7-Series electric sedans are expected to debut at a 2021 auto show and be available as 2022 models. While there are no performance numbers on these electric vehicles, it is expected that the EV 5-Series and 7-Series will have performance numbers similar to the Tesla Model 3 and the Tesla Model S.
