The 2025 BMW M5 marks a new era for the iconic M Series, debuting as the lineup’s first performance sedan to feature a plug-in hybrid powertrain. The mighty M Car is ready to rip through the streets of Jacksonville, pushing the boundaries of performance with its ferocious V8 and newly integrated electric motor.
Introducing the 2025 BMW M5: A New Benchmark in Performance Sedans
Powerful Plug-In Hybrid Setup
The new-generation BMW M5 is powered by a track-ready plug-in hybrid system that incorporates a 4.4L twin-turbocharged V8 and a single electric motor. The setup churns out a thundering 717 hp and 738 lb-ft of torque, and power delivery is managed by an eight-speed automatic transmission. Putting the pedal to the metal launches the performance sedan to 60 mph in a lightning-fast 3.4 seconds.
Performance All-Wheel Drive System
BMW’s performance-oriented all-wheel drive system, M xDrive, comes standard in the BMW M5. By default, the drive system distributes power to all four wheels with a rear bias, but drivers can customize its characteristics to match their preferences. For instance, they can switch to 4WD Sport to increase power delivery to the rear axle or 2WD to cut off power to the front wheels completely.
Selectable M Modes
The M Mode selector allows you to switch between ROAD, SPORT, and TRACK modes. In ROAD mode, all of the vehicle’s safety and driver assistance systems are active, improving convenience for day-to-day driving. When TRACK mode is engaged, all smart systems are deactivated, giving drivers maximum control. SPORT mode switches off all intervening driver assistance systems, such as the Manual Speed Limiter, while keeping the informative systems active.
Tremendous Stopping Power
The BMW M5’s stopping power is just as impressive as its acceleration. The performance sedan comes equipped with M Carbon Ceramic Brakes that produce immense friction as soon as you press the brake pedal. The setup incorporates 16.5-inch vented front and 15.7-inch vented rear rotors that are capable of resisting high temperatures. Additionally, the M5’s braking system is lighter than traditional compound brakes, reducing the vehicle’s overall weight.
Stealthy All-Electric Mode
Engaging eDrive shuts down the powerful V8 and allows the sedan to drive up to 25 miles using energy stored in the 14.8-kWh battery pack. The electric motor produces 194 hp and plenty of instant torque, so you can still enjoy punchy acceleration without the engine. Once the battery bottoms out, you can either turn on the V8 to replenish your all-electric range or stop at the nearest charging station to recharge.
