This state park spans a surface area of more than 2,500 acres and was established in 1951 by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection. Getting here from Jacksonville takes about half an hour by car, driving along Heckscher Drive.

Some of the fish species you can find during your visit to Little Talbot Island State Park include redfish, striped bass, millet, bluefish, and sheepshead. Once you get to the entrance of the park, it is a good idea to talk to the ranger and ask for a map of the best fishing areas. This state park features public boat ramps that can be used by anglers on the north end of the island.

2. Jennings State Forest

With a surface area of over 25,000 acres, Jennings State Forest is another popular destination among anglers from Jacksonville and other towns and cities in northern Florida.
