What Is It?

You can think of Adaptive Cruise Control as Cruise Control with a ‘brain’. Instead of just holding a set speed like the traditional version, it watches ahead, slows down when the traffic does, and keeps a safe distance, so you don’t have to keep fiddling with the pedals.

And because traffic can sometimes grind to a halt, the system is smart enough to bring you to a complete stop and get you moving again when things clear up. Imagine how much easier bumper-to-bumper traffic and highway driving become when your only job is to steer (and maybe sip coffee).

How To Book and Activate This Feature

You can add this feature when building your BMW or activate it later if your car already has the right hardware. To activate it yourself:

1. Open the ConnectedDrive Store

You can access the ConnectedDrive Store in two ways: through the infotainment system or the My BMW App on your smartphone. To access it via the infotainment display, go to the Apps menu, and then select the BMW ConnectedDrive Store from the available options. If using the My BMW App, sign in with your BMW ID and navigate to the Services and Store section. Here, you’ll find all available upgrades, along with pricing and subscription details.

2. Add Active Cruise Control with Stop and Go

Add Active Cruise Control with Stop & Go to your shopping basket, enter your payment details, and then confirm your purchase. Once completed, you’ll receive a confirmation email.

3. Activating Your New Feature

The next time you drive for at least 15 minutes with a stable internet connection, Active Cruise Control with Stop & Go will be ready for activation. When you reach your destination, keep an eye out on your BMW’s display. You’ll see a prompt to activate the feature. Just confirm, and you’re all set.
