BMW’s classic 3 Series has been making a statement since the 1970’s, setting a high standard in the compact luxury sports sedan market that other brands would try to emulate for years to come. Five decades later, the latest generation of 3 Series continues to set a high bar for style and performance. The 2021 BMW 3 Series has all the classic elements you would expect with some new surprises for this model year.

Every model in the 3 Series lineup comes with standard rear-wheel drive, but buyers can upgrade to BMW’s xDrive all-wheel-drive system on any model. Most 3 Series have an eight-speed automatic transmission, except the M3 which comes with a six-speed manual. There are also several engine options that we’ll go into more detail on below.

What’s New for 2021

The 330e plug-in hybrid now delivers up to 22 miles of all-electric range. The M340i also brings some new hybrid technology with the addition of a 48-volt hybrid system that is paired to a 6-cylinder engine. The 3 Series infotainment system has been upgraded to include Android Auto.  Keyless entry and automatic high beams now come standard on all models.
