Your BMW has a lot of working parts that keep it running well. Just one of these parts is your vehicle's air filter. The air filter is necessary for catching dirt and other dangerous particles before they reach your engine and cause costly damage. The expert mechanics at your BMW dealer typically inspect your air filter during your regularly scheduled maintenance visits, however, you should still be aware of the signs that it's time for a new car air filter. Time For a New Car Air Filter? Visit Your BMW Dealer Today You Notice a Lack of Power When You Drive You know your BMW is a powerful vehicle, so if you're noticing a lack of power when you accelerate this likely means you have a clogged air filter. When dangerous particles block air from getting through to your engine this can create a lack of power. Some of these particles may even be working their way through your engine, which can lead to serious damage. Take your car to your mechanic to get it fixed immediately. Your Air Filter Looks Clogged If possible, check your air filter every few months or if you notice a change in the way your vehicle is acting. You simply need to pop it out once you open your hood and look to see if it looks noticeably dirty or clogged. If it looks dark or dirty you should visit your dealership as soon as possible for a new one. You Receive a Check Engine Code Your BMW is designed to warn you of any issues that need attention. If your engine isn't receiving enough airflow or is circulating dangerous particles it should let you know. If you have a newer model BMW you will likely receive an email or text through your messaging system, but all models, including classic BMW vehicles, will put up a check engine message on your dashboard. Get this dealt with immediately. Your Exhaust Is Suddenly Very Dark If you notice your exhaust is dark or cloudy this can mean your air filter is clogged and not allowing your fuel to circulate properly. The fuel that remains unburned will likely be pushed out through your exhaust pipe. If you notice this, make an appointment to see your mechanic before it causes any further damage. Your Exhaust Is Smelly Even if your exhaust doesn't look different, if it smells different this can also mean your air filter is clogged and your fuel is being burned improperly. So, if you notice any changes at all coming from your exhaust you need to get this checked as soon as possible. Your transmission operates continuously as you drive to ensure the correct level of power from your engine is transmitted to your wheels so your car can move. The principle is very simple, but for it to work, hundreds of components and several other engine systems must all work together. If one of these components fails, your transmission could be in trouble. If you need a transmission repair in Jacksonville, FL, your friendly BMW dealer can repair it for you. Does Your BMW Need a Transmission Repair? Advice from Your BMW Dealer Humming, or Clunking Noises Odd noises from your engine are always a reason for concern. If your automatic transmission has a problem, one of the first signs is humming or buzzing noises. The issue may be as simple as low transmission fluid, but it could also be a worn bearing or a damaged case. It's important to have your transmission examined to pinpoint the exact problem if it's not fixed the transmission problem will get worse. A clunking sound is usually heard when a manual transmission is in trouble. This sound could also mean trouble with the exhaust or the differentials. Our technicians will thoroughly investigate, and whatever the cause we have the technology and parts available to repair it. Leaking Fluid A pool of liquid under your car is disheartening. Different fluids in your car have different colors and a pool of red, or worse black fluid is a sign of a transmission leak. Your transmission has hundreds of fast-moving parts, and many of them depend on friction to work effectively. Transmission fluid lubricates all of these parts and helps to control the temperature. A fluid leak needs to be repaired ASAP, as a low level of transmission fluid will cause the transmission temperature to rise and it can overheat. Often, the leak is caused by a worn transmission gasket or a damaged transmission pad, and both of these parts are quick and inexpensive to replace. The black fluid means that the fluid is old and has started to burn. We will flush the transmission, check the other components are undamaged, and replace the fluid. Noisy Transmission An easy way to test your transmission is to shift into neutral and listen to any sounds. If your transmission is working as it should, you won't hear anything. A bumping sound when your transmission is in neutral is likely caused by low transmission fluid. It's an easy fix, our technicians will top up the fluid and check that everything working properly. Many drivers worry when faced with a transmission problem, as transmission repairs are seen as hugely expensive. Most transmission issues aren't expensive and can be easily fixed. If a problem is ignored, the more time you're behind the wheel the greater the chance that more serious and expensive damage will occur. If you experience any of these signs, or your transmission feels less responsive, call our service department at Tom Bush BMW and we'll find and fix the problem.

The vehicle of your dreams is a lot more affordable when you know what car financing options are available to you. Here are some tips to follow when you're getting financing at your BMW dealer for the perfect next new vehicle. Car Financing: 7 Tips for Financing Your New Vehicle from Your BMW Dealer 1. Read the Automotive Market Like so many different aspects of the economy, the value of a vehicle and the prices a dealership offers are constantly fluctuating variables. Reading this ever-shifting market and timing your purchase accordingly can help you get a better deal. If possible, buy when the price of a vehicle dips so you'll have made a good investment when the price comes back up. 2. Pick the Right Timing Along with broader market factors, there are other considerations to make when it comes to timing your vehicle purchase. Later until the later months of the year, when less people are shopping for new vehicles, to potentially get a better deal. That decreased demand could make the deal you get more favorable. 3. Find Out Your Credit Score As with most financial opportunities, the terms of the loan your dealership gives you is determined in large part by your credit score. Knowing what your credit score is before stopping in for your purchase will help you know what to expect. Check in with a free credit reporting agency to find out your score easily. 4. Cover Additional Fees Up Front In addition to the price of the vehicle itself, the price you pay for your new vehicle also includes smaller fees such as taxes and title fees. You could get these fees included in your financing, but that will lead to higher payments or a longer loan term. Cover these fees in advance to save yourself money in the long run. 5. Go for a Shorter Financing Term While extending the timeframe of your loan can lead to lower monthly payments, you'll end up paying more over time by handling things this way. Instead, go for a shorter-term loan so that you can pay off your vehicle with the least amount of interest included possible. 6. Put as Much Money Down as Possible While financing is a helpful way to get a vehicle without covering the costs out of pocket, putting more money down will decrease the overall amount you have to pay back. That will help you avoid paying higher interest fees than you would otherwise, helping you out from a financial perspective. 7. Make Your Payments on Time Once you've got a financing deal worked out, its essential you hold to your end of the bargain by making your monthly payments in a timely manner. Doing so will avoid any additional fees being tacked on in addition to your loan. That means you'll save money by sending your payments in as scheduled. We'll help you through the financing process so that you can drive off in the perfect new vehicle for your needs. Visit Tom Bush BMW today!

The radiator in your car serves to cool your engine, allowing your car to operate efficiently. As your car moves, the mechanical parts generate heat, and this heat must be reduced. If the radiator is not working correctly, the temperature in the engine will rapidly rise and this can lead to engine damage. To protect you and your car against serious and costly repairs, as your BMW dealer we have listed some signs you may need a radiator repair. 4 Signs Your BMW Needs a Radiator Repair, From Your BMW Dealer Sludge in the Coolant Coolant is circulated through the cooling system to absorb heat from the engine and then transfer to the outside air via the radiator. When a radiator starts to fail, it deposits contaminants into the cooling system. These contaminants, which are black or rusty colored, build up in the coolant and thicken it. This sludgy mixture is then circulated through the engine, and it prevents the cooling system from working properly. An easy test for contamination is to check the color of the coolant. Coolant fluid should be pink, yellow, or green so contaminants are easy to spot. If the coolant is contaminated, your radiator will need to be replaced to prevent more serious damage to the engine. A Coolant Leak A pool of sweet-smelling liquid under your car is a sure sign of a coolant leak. There are several causes of a coolant leak, including a worn radiator, a damaged radiator hose, or even a problem with the engine block. Topping up the coolant is a very short-term solution, as the leak will continue. If you have a coolant leak, call us right away. Our technicians will find and repair the source of the leak, which will prevent any further damage to your car. Damaged Water Pump Coolant is circulated through your engine by the water pump. If the water pump wears out or is damaged, coolant will no longer circulate and your engine temperature will rise. A whining sound from your engine, combined with a high engine temperature can mean that the pump has been damaged. The whining sound is caused by a loosened pulley or a faulty ball bearing in the pump. Steam Coming From Under the Hood This is an obvious and a very serious sign that your engine is seriously overheating. If this happens when you are driving, pull over as soon as possible and call us right away. Driving with an overheating engine can cause major and costly damage to the engine, for example, burnt pistons or a blown head gasket. You are justifiably proud of your BMW, and we want you to be able to enjoy it for many years to come. If you suspect that your radiator may be damaged, contact our service department right away at Tom Bush BMW. Our trained technicians and specialized technology can diagnose and repair any possible issue. We have the care, expertise, and commitment that you and your BMW deserve.
